The Make-A-Wish Foundation Orientation. We were in a small group during the orientation and learned a bit about each other and what we wanted to accomplish by attending the evening's events. They were a lovely group of women. I know I'll meet them again.

In February I sent in my application to be a wish granter for the Make-A-Wish foundation. Tonight was my first orientation and I am so excited to be part of this amazing foundation. In July I will take part in a 2-part training session where I will learn the ropes. The Make-A-Wish foundation is phenomenal in that they grant wishes to any child with a life threatening illness. No child is turned away if they qualify. No wish is turned down, unless it's impossible to accomplish without a true miracle. As a wish granter, I will work with another team member, the child and the child's family to help make a wish come true. Whether they want to meet Chris Rock, fly to Paris or meet Mickey in Disney World, I hope to be able to make it happen.

I am thrilled to begin this process and be part of this amazing group of people. To read more about the Make-A-Wish Foundation, check out their site at: http://metrony.wish.org/

I love this quote I found and used in my application to the foundation...

"To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe." - Anatole France

I believe in magic. I believe in miracles. I believe wishes come true. I hope to make at least one life a little more magical.

This was the last night of my crime scene investigation class. Jim Giery was an amazing teacher who taught us so much. I'll spare you all the gory details, but he shared the true reality of the crime scene. After taking his class, I can honestly say that I would think twice before pursing a career in this field. I think I always glamorized it and Jim really brought a new truth to it. He didn't patronize us. Yes there were gruesome photos and yes there were stories of drug busts and passion killings, but he always presented it with respect, honesty and well...humor. I thank him for that.

Oh...and he has great style. He wears a hat extremely well.

Tonight I had drinks with Jim, his wife Katie, and my fellow classmates Dan and Vanessa. I really enjoyed meeting these new friends. If anything, this class allowed me to meet incredible new people. And I'm thankful for that.

This is Sweet William. Well, that's what I call him. ACTUALY his name is William Sweet. He interns with us at Radio City and is leaving soon to pursue bigger and better things. I know I am going to miss him terribly. He's a dancer. Keep your eye out for this one! Because he is...fierce.

This picture is actually illegal. It was taken by Jill and not me, which means it really shouldn't be the picture of the day. However, it was just too good. And with the getup on, I just couldn't take the picture myself. I know this is a slippery slope and I apologize. I promise to take every picture from this point on.

Now, to explain. I attended a grand opening of a new athletic club downtown where the main focus in on golf. I am not a golfer. My main focus was the free champagne. But I digress. At the party you could practice your strokes as well as do this really cool thing where you could see your virtual self on the computer screen and analyze your stroke. Now, no one wants to analyze my stroke. I don't golf. However, I never pass up a cool opportunity to try something new. Plus, none of the real golfers were volunteering to strap the gear on. I wonder why. (See photo above.)

So, without sounding too crude...I strapped it on. And actually didn't do half bad, according the virtual stroke expert who helped perfect my stroke.

As a funny sidenote, Mike Bloomberg was also attending this lovely event. And to make things funnier, he was actually standing right outside the frame of this picture, watching me attempt to "golf" with a rather bemused expression. Because it was a loud cocktail party atmosphere, I mouthed the words to him, "I can't golf." He mouthed back. "That's ok." I imagine it was.

Happy Cinqo de Mayo! Annie, Maggie and I dined at the old Miracle Grill, (now called Imagine) and had a great girls dinner. Maggie lives in Vail, so I don't get to see her very often, so I love it when she comes to visit. We always have a great time!

David Blaine being "Drowned Alive". Rita and I walked by Lincoln Center today and visited this crazy character floating in his bubble. In typical Blaine fashion, he fasted for three days before diving into his tank. On Monday, May 8th, after being immersed in water for a full seven days, Blaine will attempt to break the world record by holding his breath longer than any other human being. He reminds me of a hotter Glinda the Good Witch.

Not to get all David Blaine-y on you, but I actually got to visit his weirdness again tonight. A little illegal because this was taken around 1am, but I consider the "day" to represent the time before I fall asleep.

Because of the crowds during the day on Saturday, I didn't get up close to the bubble and actually touch it. Tonight I got to. Unfortunately, by the time we got there, Mr. Blaine was already tucked in for the night. But, it's ok though because we said "yes" to going. And that's the important part of the story.

My elevator. The object that is normally my savior. When I have lots of groceries. Or a new piece of furniture. Or when I'm coming home really late and can't imagine taking the stairs. Tonight, however, it was the villain.

I hopped in around 8pm to go and get groceries. Thought I would stop on the way down, drop off my recycling and then head on out. I got stuck. In the basement. Luckily the elevator door finally opened in the basement, so I was at least not stuck IN the elevator. The problem was, there was no way out of the basement! I called my super, he came right away, and then the two of us had to manuever the grate in the sidewalk to get me out into the real world! It was pitch black and I had to unhinge some elaborate rusty HINGES. But we finally did it, and all was well.

I took the stairs on the way back up. Even WITH my groceries.

Sometimes a cool picture is right under your own roof. This is an extreme close-up of a weird glass tree that I love. Like I've said before...one of the reasons I love taking a picture a day, is that I have to really SEE something every day.
